My grandmother and her 80+ friends say, that they wish to have our problems. All they could remember working, watching news and going to communists meetings. My grandfather's almost all family was prosecuted by KGB, but he used to believe in their ideas a lot, was a big follower; meetings, demonstrations with red flags, reading books, we were involved in all of this in our childhood.
Before the Soviet Social Revolution, I heard our family was religious, my great great grandfather was a member of Orthodox Church, my great great... mothers believed a lot in God and could do unbelievable things, just because of their believe. And then in 1917 it became officially prohibited by the government, but still after 70 years everything went the way it was, naturally.
And God, I think and I have heard from old old people, wants us to love our self, to love people we want to love, feel this love physically, emotionally, be happy here, focus on good things, do good things for us first, people we care and love. This how we serve God.
